Taking the motorhome to Italy 2008

Going on holiday to Italy with 2 welshies - is that madness ???????? After taking the motorhome to Sweden and Denmark last year we thought we were ready for a challenge ........

The dogs have their own cabin onboard usually refered to as the "Nobel-suite" (from the Grand Hotel in Oslo) Here's Pegi in the cabin with her own window and bed with a view.
We have arrived in Lübeck and having breakfast in lovely weather. Here you can see the Nobel-suite from the outside. The tailgate acts as a suncanope and there is lovely shade for the dogs.
After 2 days of travelling on the Autobahn it was nice with a couple of days rest in Bregenz in Austria. Ray is as always inspecting the local marina on the Bodensee.
Independence Day - 17th of May - and we cross the Alps. From sunny Austria to rain in Italy - certainly not what we had been expecting.
Arriving at the Lago di Maggiore we celebrate with Italian redwine. Lovely campsite right on the lake.
The solo mio seems reluctant to come but the lake was nevertheless lovely.
We decided to go for a boat trip on the lake and are told that the dogs must be muzzled. Pegi tore her off already on the gangway but the crew said it was OK to leave them off.
Approaching the Isola Bella. Little did we know that the island was full of cats ! Thank God the stop only lasted for an hour !
After Lago di Maggiore we went on to the Lago di Iseo. Also here we found a lovely spot by the lake, which we renamed Swan Lake.
The next lake just had to be the Lake Garda and we could fulfil our promise to Pegi of a lovely swim. The weather was lovely from now on - 25 degrees and lovely sunshine.

The dogs always had to be kept on a lead. These ropes we have borrowed from the Queen Mary ha ha.
We then moved on to Venice and a campsite outside the port of Mestre with the canal just a few meters from the van.
One day a condola came past !

In Italy dogs sometimes comes to work - like looking after the book-stall !
On the way home we visited the lovely Slovenian town of Bled and a 5 star camp site.
Where the dogs had their own bar........
and own tiled shower for dogs.......
and wireless internet.......
and swans with cygnets........
There was wildlife on the camp site in Wolfsburg too, lots of wild rabbits !!
